Widely recognised as one of the most innovative and exciting designers of his generation Waldemeyer, aged 34, was born in East Germany. He moved to London thirteen years ago where he trained as an engineer at Kings College and completed his Masters degree in 2001. Since then, he has collaborated with many of the world’s top architects and fashion designers including Ron Arad, Zaha Hadid and Hussein Chalayan. His work is a fusion of technology, art, fashion and design.

Zune Chandelier, Twilight: a tiered chandelier that reacts to music sent to it using the Zune sharing function.

 

 

ICA Charity Gala, Joyrider: two components that attach to the spokes of a bicycle wheel, emitting a fixed image of a smiley face using LED lights.

 

2007

Steelcase: animations for in-store display.

 

 

OKGO, Vegas Jackets: LED lights stitched into the jackets of the four performers turn each of them into a moving light show evoking the flickering lights of the slot machines in the casinos of Las Vegas.

Swarovski / FredriksonStallard, Pandora Chandelier: thousands of moving crystals on servo-controlled wires create and then destroy the traditional form of a chandelier. 

 

 

Swarovski/Hussein Chalayan, Readings: crystal embellished dresses with inbuilt rotating lasers that were displayed as a video in Paris Fashion Week.

 

 

Swarovski/Hussein Chalayan, Airborne: futuristic dresses that display video content across their surface that made their debut in Paris Fashion Week.

 

2006

Swarovski/Hussein Chalayan, One Hundred and Eleven: mechanical dresses for Paris Fashion Week that evolve from one era to another using embedded technology and smart wires.

 

 

Georg Baldele's Lanterns: these lanterns were used for the Swarovski sponsored NSPCC charity event in the Royal Albert Hall.

 

 

Electric Kid: An exhibition of 3 interactive Corian pieces: roulette table, Pong table and Corian mirror.

 

DuPont Corian/Zaha Hadid, Z Island Kitchen: interactive design for a kitchen including user interface, lighting and multi-media installation.

 

2005

Troika’s Tool For Armchair Activists: this machine receives text messages and converts them into spoken words. It can be attached to a lamp post in a high profile location, allowing the armchair activist to express his opinion from anywhere in the world.

 

 

Swarovski/Ron Arad, Miss Haze Chandelier: interactive crystal chandelier that allows the user to project an image of their own design onto the crystals via a Palm computer and bluetooth connection.

 

 

Swarovski/Yves Behar, Voyage Chandelier: motion-sensitive LEDs embedded into the structure are triggered to light up as travelers pass back and forth through the airport.

 

2004

RCA, Step by Step: a moving sculpture of Swarovski crystals in orbit, suspended by servo-driven strings.

 

Swarovski/Ron Arad, Lolita Chandelier: a chandelier that displays text messages using LEDs embedded in the individual crystals
